Chico was quite pleased with the image he saw that rippled on the pond water. He had a habit of being a bit pig-headed with own appearance, and he indulged in the vice of vanity when he was alone with a reflective surface.
"Now that right there is one handsome lookin' brute" the overly prideful wolf mused to himself while striking dashing (or ridiculous depending on the source) poses, "I certainly would date me, I tell you that!"
The most petite of splashes then sounded, and caused tiny rings to expand across the waters surface. The manufacturer was a spunky butterfly bearing ocean blue wings with orange speckles. She was getting fed up with her new friend's arrogance, and wanted to end it before it became too insane. The response quickly came as, "Okay, Esmerelda, I'll stop."
It has been a few hours since Chico's adventure in the tall grasses of grain colors. Since then he had become quite attracted to the little butterfly that had been the first entity he encountered in the fields. Apparently, she shared the same feeling for him considering the fact that she hadn't strayed too far from his side. Chico, figuring that this would be his new traveling companion, decided she was female (he could never be sure), and gave her the name Esmerelda. He felt it was appropriate since the title meaned "emerald" in his naive tongue.
Crouching down before the ponds edge, Chico performed the task he originally intended to achieve when he entered the woods: drink. Summer was fast approaching which resulted in warmer days. The threat of over heating loomed over the Mexican wolf's head, so he understood how important water breaks were.
Lifting his head he chuckled to the emerald insect who rested upon his crown, "That's some good water, ain't it?"
(( OOC: The butterfly was supposed to be a one time thing, but it grew on me. I realize now this my constitute as power playing at some level, and I will be obliged to dispose of the character if need be.))

OOC: The butterfly should be fine .. it doesn't technically belong to anyone so shouldn't mind if you powerplay it. It basically belongs to you. Now allow me to annoy you and your Esmerelda xD
The fae that was a ways down from Chico, her auds pulled back, head lowered and tail laying flat on the earth, was a different sort of creature. Her rust colored paws rested in the cool water and her pale, somewhat luminescent green muzzle tipped with her leathery black nose rested upon them. Her belly lay flat on the earth as well. One at a distance might wonder if she were alive or had drowned herself at the ponds shallow edge. But she was very much alive .. dreaming. The canine's orbs were shut and she breathed slowly. Though aware of her surroundings her mind was someplace different. She had managed to split herself between the physical and astral planes at that moment and was exploring someplace far away .. flying above a city with tall buildings and wide streets .. yellow cars and busses .. people everywhere and animals hiding just out of their sights. She was searching, once again, for her family. She landed lightly upon the roof of a skyscraper and fluttered down to the window. Only people .. a child watching a colorful box and a mother tending a sleeping baby. She moved on, knowing that this was not where she had escaped from when she had lost the others. On the wings of a bird she flew, forever searching, finding nothing...

A foreign perfume unexpectedly invaded Chico's nasal cavity. His interest now sparked, the petite brute took a few more whiffs of the air to try and gather more information on this stranger. It appeared to be a young female wolf...sort of. There was something about her scent that made Chico think the fae was something more than just a wolf.
The Mexican wolf's golden orbs then fell upon the source of the smell. He figured his new company was as asleep since the stench of death was not upon her. Crouching down so his tummy touched the ground, Chico slowly creeped toward the unconscious entity with eyes wide in curiosity and his butterfly friend still resting a top his crown. Soon, he was so amazingly close to her face that his snout was almost touching.
‘She looks kinda weird’ Chico assessed in his mind after noticing the queer coloration of the fae, ‘At the same time, she’s kinda hot.’

The fae could feel the Mexican wolf's breath on her muzzle, but it did not stir her. Still, he remained there smelling the air around her. His scent was of curiosity, maybe innocence or frivolence .. she spoke softly, barely audible: "I know you're there .. I can sense and feel you. But there is more .. you are not alone, are you..?" She did not move as she whispered, only continued to rest where she was. She lead herself back down to the place so she could better judge the newcomer..

Chico's heart jolted and his tail flinched at the fae's voice. On normal circumstances, he would have wildly sprung up and exclaimed a comment in surprise. However, due her soft and smooth tone, his usually skiddish nerves were not severely triggered.
"Well, I have Esmerelda...if that's what'cha mean..." came Chico's response to the other's inquiry. The answer was as equally as hushed as the original question; This was simply because the freakishly low volume induced a sort of confusion on the simple-minded brute.
At that point in time, the delicate butterfly wished to gain a closer look at this intriguing stranger. With silent grace, she breezily flew over and settled onto the bride of the fae's snout. Her tiny antennae twitched slightly and her blue and orange wings batted daintily as she gazed upon the face of an enigma.

The fae did not move as the butterfly landed softly on her rostrum. She felt the tiny, hooked feet feel their way through the thin fur down to her skin and the smooth motion of the wings moving up and down with such careful grace. Then after a moments pause the fae's ears moved slowly and her whiskers twitched under the butterfly. "Esmerelda? ..she follows you. How dangerous for her -- unless you have something that others don't. A love of butterflies? If you wanted to hurt her, you could have. Why," and still the fae's eyes were closed, "would a butterfly follow a mexican wolf..?" she was testing the wolf now, exploring who he was and what his reaction for her somewhat delicate question would be. If he was one of bravado, he would never stand for being asked, sir, do you have a love of butterflies? But actually the concept of the insect sparked her curiosity, too. Why would a butterfly follow any wolf? Was he a shaman? If he was, she could not sense it..

“Ya know what?! That’s a really good question!”
No longer could the hyperactive brute remain tranquil. Like a lighting bolt, Chico leapt up to his dusty paws. The bushy tail that spastically swayed behind him showed his obvious excitement. His brilliant yellow eyes twinkled with enthusiasm. He began to speak a mile a minute, each sentence seeming to run into the next.
“Ya see, I was just explorin’ some awesome field when Esmerelda just like appeared out of no where, and I was all like, ‘Whoa! Dude! A butterfly!’. So I like played with her for a long while, and she wouldn’t leave me alone, so I was all like, ‘Well, I guess I got a butterfly!’. I’m really glad too, that she, ya know, stayed with me cuz she’s like the only friend I got cuz I new here. That and she’s really pretty. Ya know, if you open your eyes you’ll see how pretty she is.”
Chico ended his monologue with heavy patting. It seemed he had forgotten to breath.

Slowly the fae's lids opened to reveal her pale green orbs glittering beneath them. The pillars carefully drew her up as her flag curled about her hock. Her visage turned and she felt the butterfly lift away .. whether it would perch upon the mexican wolf's fur or return to her snout was uncertain. "She is beautiful .. so beautiful.." She fell to her haunches. "So you found her only a short while ago, then? And she came instantly .. perhaps she has been looking for you..? I've been here for a while. So tell me your name, and where you come from, Mexican wolf,"

Esmerelda fluttered a bit before the stranger, almost as if she was flaunting here beauty. When she finished her dance, she promptly returned to Chico's crown where she have recently found a perfect resting spot.
"My name's Chico, or a least that's what my mama called me" the Mexican wolf replied to the other's question, "I come from a desert pack called Santana Barrens. You could say I'm often talked about among its members."
The last comment was stained with a sense of bravo, for Chico was very much a flirt around vixens. However, he wasn't lying went he stated they he was well known. The pack had long ago branded him a trouble marker. He was constantly sticking his snout in where it didn't belong, and always making a big mess of things. The brute, of course, left this bit of information out.
"So...whadda 'bout you?" the shaggy lobo continued, inching a little closer to his company as suavely as he could (which wasn't much), "Who might you be, and where do ya come from?"

A pale white wolf slowly walked toward the pond, eyeing everyone as she slowly drank from the pond. She drank, watching everyone behind a blue and green eye. Flicking her tail, walked away in submissive pose, and laid down in a field.

Looking up at Urufu, I playfully growl at her. Then I sit up, and sniff the air. I howl, a lone wolf howl, hoping that me and my sister can join a pack.

Chico's ears positioned themselves in the universal sign of confusion when he heard the honeyed howl of a stranger. He sharply turned his head toward the direction of the sound, forcing his butterfly companion to hastily leave his crown. Chico's excitement then shot through the roof when he spotted the two other wolves across the pond.
In reply to their call, the Mexican wolf let loose a wild but friendly howl. He then turned to the fae named Orphan and chuckled, "This day just keeps on gettin' better and better! C'mon Orphan! Lets give 'em a warm welcome! YAHOO!"
Without even remotely pondering the outcome, the reckless lobo bolted through the pond with Esmerelda hot on his trail. Every frantic and clumsy movement he made caused the cool waters around him to slash and buck with an aggressive passion. When Chico final reached the other side, he rowdily shook his entire frame in an attempt to dry off his miss-matched pelt. He the announced in an insane tone to the two strangers, "Whazz-up, peeps?!"
